| Registration for the 2026 Winter Season is now open! Athletes, Unified partners and coaches can register for the winter season now through Sunday, November 2. During the winter season, Special Olympics Colorado offers the following sports: Alpine Skiing Basketball Figure Skating Nordic Skiing Snowboarding Snowshoeing Speed Skating Powerlifting* * Powerlifting registration will be offered as part of the winter season for teams, athletes and coaches. Powerlifting training will begin in January for all teams. Competitions will continue to take place during the spring season. | New Athlete Application Form Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO) is excited to share an update to our Athlete Application process designed to make participation simpler, faster, and more accessible. Beginning today, new and renewing athletes will complete a quick (approximately 10 minutes) online Athlete Application—no physical exam required for most participants. This change aligns with Special Olympics International’s effort to make participation easier while still gathering the essential health information coaches need for safe training and competition. Athlete Application FAQ What’s Changing: Shorter Online Athlete Application Form (Approximately 10 minutes to complete) Physical Exam No Longer Required for Participation (unless specific health conditions apply) Athlete Application Must be Renewed Annually Who Must Complete the New Athletes Application? All new athletes Current athletes when their existing application expires (currently valid for 3 years) SOCO will notify athletes in advance when their application is due for renewal School-based athletes participating in a SOCO-hosted competition *A parent/guardian must complete the Athlete Application for minors and adults with legal guardians.
